This place is truly one of a kind, it is almost like staying in an art installation. Our room, Bailey's Branch Suite, had all the comforts of a 5-star room (particularly of note are the super comfy beds and bedding) plus all sorts of unique features that you just have to come check out yourself. Marshall just had their reopening post Hurricane Helene so there is coffee, drinks, food, groceries etc. all open nearby. Plus Zadies at the jail just opened back up for yummy eats, beer and wine. We stayed on a Thursday for the music and dancing on the patio, everyone was in such great spirits, welcoming and appreciative to be there. It was a blast and we will be back soon.

We stayed at Old Marshall Jail Hotel in 2024 just a few days before the devastating floods of Storm Helene. Returning in 2025 we were shocked by the damaged to Marshall but also extremely inspired by the recovery now underway. Old Marshall Jail Hotel stands as a beacon of resilience and Josh’s efforts are truly inspiring. As for the Jail well it remains a very cool and comfortable place to stay. Waking up to the views from the Sheriff Suit is a memory that will live long in the mind. Can’t wait to return.

What a wonderfully, special place. Josh, the innkeeper, is a creative genius. The hotel is filled with history and relics from the old jail and free tours are available, featuring storytelling about the sheriffs and prisoners, even a great escape. The staff is great, friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and well stocked and the kitchens well equipped. Very comfortable, easy parking and walk to everything in Marshall. This is a special place, y'all. We plan to return for a ballad swap evening, stay the night and eat, drink and buy art in Marshall. Zadie's, the attached restaurant, is wonderful as well.

We spent four marvelous days at Old Marshall Jail and loved every minute. The jail is restored and adorned with a lot of. Josh’s ceramics and it. Is stunning. The restaurant is terrific and we sssw wonderful bands and ballad swapping! Marshall has shown such amazing resilience since the flood last year! Marshall is a great base to explore the region and is convenient to Asheville. We’d give the Jail Six Stars!

Marshall is such a special little town, always enjoy stopping by. This was our first stay in the OM Jail Hotel, it's situated right on the river and is such a peaceful, beautiful spot. The work done on the hotel/jail is top notch with a lot of interesting details and homages to the the building's history. The food in the restaurant downstairs is really great and the folks there are super friendly. On a related note, it was touching to see how much the town had rallied together to recover from the devastating floods there last year.

I stayed in the back street bunk room and slept fantastically. Very affordable and what a cool building! The view of the river from the back deck is incredible. I stayed April 2025, and they are still doing repairs to the downstairs from the damage done by Helene, but it didn't cause any issues with my stay whatsoever. Highly highly recommend if you're in the area.

We had a lovely stay at the Old Marshall Jail Hotel! The decor and ambience were terrific. It was a great location right across from Zuma coffee, the best cafe in town. The River View Suite was perfect, with a great view. Would definitely stay there again.
